Shipping Area

Managing Shipping Areas

The Shipping Area module allows you to define specific geographic locations where your drivers operate. Before you can assign a driver to a specific route or region, you must first create a Shipping Area. This module also helps you manage driver workload by setting a maximum limit on the number of orders a driver can handle in that specific area.

Accessing the Shipping Area Module

To navigate to the Shipping Area management page:

  1. Log in to your admin dashboard.
  2. On the left-hand navigation menu, locate and click on the Sales module to expand it.
  3. From the expanded list, click on Shipping Area.

Overview of the Shipping Area Dashboard

Once you open the Shipping Area page, you will see a table displaying all previously created shipping areas. The dashboard provides the following tools and information:

  • Search Bar: Located at the top right of the table, this allows you to quickly find a specific shipping area by searching for its name, city, or other details.
  • Data Columns: The table lists the Area Name, City, District, State, Country, and the Max Orders Per Driver.
  • Action Column: Located on the far right, this column contains buttons to edit or delete existing entries.

How to Create a New Shipping Area

Follow these steps to add a new delivery location to your system:

  1. Click the blue Create New Shipping Area + button located at the top right corner of the dashboard. A form window will pop up.
  2. Fill in the geographic details for the new area:
    • Area Name: Enter a recognizable name for the shipping zone (e.g., Mussafah).
    • City: Specify the city the area belongs to.
    • District: Enter the specific district or neighborhood.
    • State: Enter the state or emirate.
    • Country: Enter the country name.
  3. Set Max Orders Per Driver: Enter a numerical limit for deliveries.
How this works: This is a built-in safety validation. If you set the maximum limit to 15 orders, the system will prevent a salesman from assigning a 16th order to a driver in this area. It will automatically reject the assignment, ensuring drivers are not overloaded beyond their capacity.
  4. Review all the entered information. Once verified, click the green Save button at the bottom of the window to create the shipping area.

Editing or Deleting a Shipping Area

You can easily update or remove an existing shipping area directly from the table:

  1. To Edit: Locate the shipping area you want to update and click the Edit icon (pencil symbol) in the Action column. This opens the edit window where you can change the area name, adjust the order capacity, or fix any geographic details. Click Save to apply your changes.
  2. To Delete/Disable: Click the Delete icon (trash can symbol) in the Action column next to the entry you wish to remove. Confirm the action to permanently delete or disable the shipping area from your list.

Next Steps

Once you have successfully created your shipping areas, the next step in your workflow is to assign these specific areas to your drivers. You can configure this within the Users module by editing a driver's profile and attaching them to their newly created shipping area.
